Wez is the Principal Director at Starki Architectural. Graduating with an Honours Degree in Architectural Design & Technology from Cardiff’s School of Art & Design in 2012 following a year studying Engineering at Swansea University, he undertook Initial Teacher Training in Secondary Education. Wez is qualified as an Outstanding teacher of Art & Design, Technology, Engineering, Construction, Technical and Computer Aided Design & Manufacture. He has worked in secondary schools and sixth form centres, mainly in areas of significant social depravation, to develop and inspire the next generation of designers and manufacturers. A challenging job, this didn’t stop Wez from achieving his career aspirations of educational leadership, having led multi-disciplinary teams in roles including: Head of Design & Technology in his second year in one of the UK’s top performing schools; and Head of the Faculty of Design, Engineering & Construction at a designated centre for educational development in his fourth. While leading staff and students he completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Education.
In July of 2019 Wez incorporated Starki Limited. Realising that the business would require full-time commitment Wez left teaching to pursue his passion for Architecture. Wez has extensive experience in leading various high profile projects, managing teams and delivering to a wide range of audiences, with his unique and inspirational formula for success. He combines business strategy with leading Starki’s commercial-based projects. Wez is passionate about building solid and long-lasting relationships with Starki’s clients through professional and carefully considered practice with a focus on achieving consistent client satisfaction through a highly personalised service. He is registered with CIAT and is working toward Chartered Status alongside Starki Architectural as a registered practice.
As the Principal Director, Wez holds a strong organisational and strategic role which demands continual development in order to respond to market changes and ever-inspiring client visions.
“Starki began as a web-based service offering design services including architectural advice, CAD drawings and technical specifications. Over time and through first-hand experience of working in London’s high end suburbs, I added personal touches to what we offer and developed our business to cater for a client base who require a ‘hands-on’ approach with a highly personalised approach. It now seems obvious that the practice’s fabric would adapt naturally over time and it continues to develop toward ultimately offering a full turn-key service which will offer our clients a truly comprehensive experience. As the business developed, so did the fusion between the organisation and the blend of our skills, qualities and personality. Today, Starki is an extension of these characteristics. Our clients gain their trust, assurance and overall fulfilment from our staff who revel in our shared journey. We live and work to give our clients the space they want, with the design and service they deserve – providing them with our signature ‘design for life’.”
